Best Time to Visit Kedarkantha Trek

Begin your Kedarkantha adventure early in the morning from Dehradun and embark on a scenic drive towards Kotgaon, a beautiful mountain village in the Mori region of Uttarkashi district. The journey covers approximately 195 km and usually takes around 10–11 hours, depending on road and weather conditions.
The drive takes you through the picturesque Himalayan foothills, passing charming towns and villages such as Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, and Naitwar. As the road gradually climbs into the mountains, the landscape transforms from the busy surroundings of Dehradun into quiet valleys, dense forests, terraced fields, and traditional Himalayan settlements.
The route follows winding mountain roads with beautiful views of the surrounding Garhwal Himalayas. Along the way, you can enjoy glimpses of the Tons River and the rugged mountain landscapes of Uttarkashi. The further you travel towards Mori and Naitwar, the more remote and peaceful the surroundings become.

Your journey begins before dawn with a hot cup of tea and an early breakfast. Equipped with headlamps, you’ll start the climb under a starlit sky, making your way through snow-covered slopes during winter or rocky mountain trails in other seasons.
As you ascend higher, the trail becomes steeper, but every step rewards you with increasingly spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape. Wake up to your final morning in the Himalayas and enjoy a hearty breakfast before beginning the descent from Hargaon to Kotgaon. The trail passes through dense forests of pine, oak, and deodar, offering one last opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary. As you descend, take in the fresh mountain air, listen to the sounds of Himalayan birds, and admire the peaceful surroundings that have made the Kedarkantha Trek one of the most popular trekking destinations in India.
After approximately 3–4 hours of trekking, you will reach Kotgaon, where your trekking adventure comes to an end. Freshen up and board your vehicle for the scenic drive back to Dehradun.
The return journey follows the picturesque route through Netwar, Mori, Purola, Naugaon, Damta, Nainbagh, Kempty Falls, and Mussoorie. Along the way, enjoy beautiful views of the Tons River, lush valleys, terraced fields, apple orchards, and traditional Garhwali villages. There will be stops for refreshments and lunch (at your own expense) before continuing towards Dehradun.

The Kedarkantha Trek is a year-round destination, with each season offering a unique experience. However, December to April is the most popular time to visit, as the trail is covered in snow, making it one of the best winter treks in India.

For the classic snow trekking experience, plan your Kedarkantha Trek between December and February. If you prefer comfortable weather, greenery, and fewer crowds, April to June and September to November are excellent alternatives.
Fitness
- Participants should be in good physical health and free from any serious medical conditions.
- It is recommended that you can comfortably walk or jog 5 km in 30–40 minutes before joining the trek.
- Regular cardio exercises such as jogging, cycling, stair climbing, or brisk walking for 3–4 weeks before the trek are recommended.
- Consult your doctor before booking if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.
- Journey To Himalayas reserves the right to deny participation if a trekker is found medically unfit or unable to safely complete the trek.

Cancellation Policy (Emergency Cases)
In case of the death of an immediate family member (parents, siblings, spouse, or children), or if the trekker is hospitalized (minimum 48 hours) or suffers a fracture (leg/arm) within one week before the trek, even if the cancellation is made one day before departure:
90% trek fee refund in cash.
10% trek fee voucher valid for one year for any Journey To Himalayas trek.

Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats.
In case of transferring a trek to a friend, the new participant must fulfill all mandatory fitness and eligibility requirements specified by Journey To Himalayas.

Booking and Payments
The participant is responsible for verifying the accuracy of all booking details, including trek dates and personal information, at the time of booking.
Payments must be made according to the timelines and instructions provided by Journey To Himalayas. Late payments may result in cancellation of the booking without refund.
In the event of a cash refund, only the portion of the payment originally made in cash will be refunded in cash. Any booking made using vouchers, discounts, promotional codes, or any non-cash mode of payment shall not be eligible for a cash refund.
Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within 15–30 working days after confirmation.
All add-on bookings are subject to their respective cancellation policies, and refunds will be processed accordingly.

This is a non-transferable voucher.

The voucher is valid only for treks booked directly with Journey To Himalayas in India.

Itinerary and Modifications
Journey To Himalayas reserves the right to modify, shorten, or cancel any part of the trip due to transportation delays, weather conditions, health emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances, including Force Majeure events.
Cancellations and Refunds
No refunds or vouchers, partial or otherwise, will be provided for voluntary withdrawal, non-utilization of services, or removal from the trek.
If Journey To Himalayas cancels the trip before arrival at the designated pickup point due to unforeseen circumstances or Force Majeure, the participant may choose one of the following:
An alternate trek or departure date.
A credit voucher valid for one year.
Transfer to another trek by paying or receiving the applicable price difference.
If the trip is abandoned after arrival at the designated pickup point, no cash refund or voucher will be issued. Any future trek benefit, if offered, will be at the sole discretion of Journey To Himalayas.
Journey To Himalayas shall not be liable for any associated travel expenses such as flights, train tickets, hotel bookings, visas, or any other personal travel costs.
Force Majeure
Journey To Himalayas shall not be held liable for any cancellation, delay, or modification of services due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to earthquakes, landslides, strikes, curfews, war, pandemics, government restrictions, heavy rainfall, heavy snowfall, windstorms, road blockages, trail disruptions, withdrawal of permits, or any other Force Majeure event.
